flowers in a garden

What flowers should I consider to help pollinators in my location>

So...

you have been looking for what flowers or vegetables to plant in your yard and garden this year.

You maybe came to this Blackwater Beekeepers site because we might offer some tips on what plants help feed our local pollinators.

Yes... we can help give you some direction. Thank you for caring about our pollinators.

Most folks want to help the pollinators in your area but at the same time want to have a vibrant colorful garden for most of the summer. They don't have big yards nor have a lot of time to spend managing plants.

The link below will help you evaluate some common plants that are favored by our pollinators as a food source, are reasonably easy to maintain and for the most part are visually acceptable both in leaf and flower presentations.

This list was developed by a BBA leader in the Little River/NMB chapter. We hope this helps you as you help our local pollinator populations.

Common Pollinator Plants

Remember... Coastal South Carolina is hot and dry in the summers. You MUST provide enough water to help these plants survive dry conditions either in the ground or in a container
